Charitable Programs & Partnerships

The Eye Institute of Utah in Salt Lake City has served the Intermountain West for over 40 years, and we take pride in being a part of your community. In addition to providing advanced vision correction and comprehensive eye care services, we also value the opportunity to give back. Our team is committed to sharing our expertise by participating in charitable causes and fostering community partnerships. We would like to share information about our internal programs and highlight some of the fantastic organizations that we have have been able to work with at The Eye Institute of Utah.

Operation Sight

Operation Sight is an organization overseen by The ASCRS Foundation, the philanthropic division of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. Operation Sight recognizes that many people suffering from visual impairment due to cataracts are unable to afford the basic surgery that could save their sight. This charitable eye care program works with volunteer surgeons here and abroad to provide cataract surgery for patients who are uninsured or otherwise unable to access care on their own. Eye doctors, surgical and clinical staff at The Eye Institute of Utah have volunteered their time to perform sight-saving cataract surgeries to people in need year-round through Operation Sight.

Moms & Dads LASIK Giveaway Program

At The Eye Institute of Utah, we wanted to find a way to reward everyday heroes in our community – the busy, caring people who work 24/7/365 without breaks and with little celebration. That’s right, we’re talking about parents! We launched our Moms & Dads LASIK Giveaway Program over 10 years ago to provide free vision correction to deserving parents in the Salt Lake City area. Each year, we put out a call for nominations and 4 lucky parents receive free LASIK, PRK or ICL from our experienced vision correction surgeons.

Charitable LASIK Programs

On a regular basis, The Eye Institute of Utah offers special pricing on LASIK while also pledging donations for each LASIK procedure performed. Some of our past charitable LASIK campaigns have helped support Friends for Sight and the Maliheh Free Clinic, two Salt Lake City non-profit organizations that are both working to provide vision care for underserved children and adults in Utah.

VisionWalk

The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a non-profit organization that supports advanced research of degenerative retinal diseases in order to find treatments for a variety of eye diseases, including macular degeneration, Stargardt disease, retinitis pigmentosa, and Usher syndrome. They organize 5k VisionWalk events across the country to raise awareness and offer education about retinal diseases, as well as raise critical research funding. The Eye Institute of Utah has been a proud sponsor of VisionWalk and our team has participated in many past VisionWalk events located in Salt Lake City.
