Dr. W. Andrew Lyle (1945-2024) founded The Eye Institute of Utah in 1980 and built the practice into a leading eye care provider in the Intermountain West. Widely regarded as a foremost expert in cataract and laser vision correction, Dr. Lyle’s skill and experience earned him numerous prestigious awards and honors throughout his illustrious career. His legacy of excellence continues to shape the high level of advanced care provided by the team at The Eye Institute of Utah.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Lyle received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed a residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, followed by a laser and retinal surgery fellowship. Throughout his career, Dr. Lyle was a prolific contributor to major ophthalmology journals and a frequent guest lecturer at national meetings of professional eye care associations. He also served as a faculty member at the Veterans Administration Hospital and the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Lyle’s pioneering spirit and deep commitment to advancing ophthalmology left an enduring impact on the field and the countless lives he improved through his expertise and compassionate care. His vision continues to inspire all of us at The Eye Institute of Utah.
