Happy Birthday Dr. Carter!
The staff, doctors and team at The Eye Institute of Utah would like to wish Dr. Randy Carter a very happy birthday! Dr. Carter has been at The Eye Institute of Utah for nearly 30 years, and we are so thankful to have such a talented, smart and genuine doctor as one of our leaders! We asked Dr. Carter a series of get-to-know-you questions that go beyond his career as an optometrist. Take a look at how he responded!
Q: Where are you from (born/raised)?
A: Pensacola, Florida
Q:What was your high school and high school mascot?
A: William J. Woodham High School, Titan
Q:Were you active in sports or extracurricular activities in high school/college? If yes, elaborate.
A: I grew up playing many sports, but consistently bowled starting at age 8. I have been to many tournaments and have many trophies. Also bowled in college competing with other universities.
Q:What was your first job?
A: Neighborhood lawn care before age 16, then worked in a grocery store.
Q:Guilty Pleasure?
A: Belgian beer and rocky road ice cream
Q:Favorite Movie/TV Show?
A: Lots of Great movies: Patton, Braveheart, The Bourne series
A: TV show – currently – The Walking Dead
Q:Favorite food?
A: Popcorn and all sea food
Q:What’s your biggest fear?
A: Getting fat and out of shape.
Q:What hobbies or activities do you enjoy in your free time?
A: Boating, camping, gardening

A: Wife Heidi RN at St. Marks, Son Brandon flight student at Westminster, Daughter Lauren flight attendant currently based in Chicago, Son Austin skeleton athlete and currently employed at the Utah Olympic Park
Q:Before becoming a doctor, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Accountant
Q:Why did you choose to be an optometrist?
A: Because it was a “clean” medically related field.
Q:What would be your go-to Karaoke song?
A: Since I can’t carry a tune in bucket, this is beyond my comprehension!
Q:If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Seared Ahi Tuna

A: Red

A: Clutter and disorder
