Dr. Sean Cushman is a board-certified optometrist with a focus on ocular disease. His special interests lie in advanced dry eye care, diabetic, and comprehensive eye care. He also provides post-operative and comprehensive eye care and is the Director of The Eye Institute of Utah’s Optometric Internship program.
Originally from San Francisco, CA, Dr. Cushman grew up in Midland, MI and completed his undergraduate education cum laude at Hope College completing a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He then went on to complete optometry school at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Following school, Dr. Cushman completed a one-year residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, the #1 ranked Eye Hospital in the nation. He was trained by some of the world’s most regarded ophthalmology specialists in the areas of advanced dry eye, corneal disease, glaucoma, retinal disease, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics and emergency eye care.
Dr. Cushman is also very passionate about missionary eye care. He has provided eye care in Jamaica on multiple occasions, Ghana, Peru and Brazil. He has also done mission work in South Africa and Nepal. When not in clinic, you will likely find Dr. Cushman hiking, skiing, and doing photography.
