The Eye Institute of Utah Announces Clinic Area Remodel to Expand Diagnostic Testing and Improve Patient Experience
Eye care and surgery center in Salt Lake City announces an expansion to its clinic area to accommodate a larger number of patients, while creating a more streamlined experience.
Salt Lake City, UT — The Eye Institute of Utah, a comprehensive eye care facility and ophthalmology practice located in Salt Lake City, recently announced a complete remodel to their first level clinic area. Phase one of the four month planned reconstruction of the main level clinic began on Friday, December 20th with an expected completion of late Spring 2014. The reconstruction will include a variety of aesthetic and functional upgrades that will optimize new diagnostic testing areas, simplify the check-in and check-out process, and ultimately enhance the patient experience by improving patient accessibility and reducing wait times.
The newly constructed space will allow for an expanded, more centralized testing area, allowing doctors to more efficiently provide the best diagnostic testing possible utilizing the latest state-of-the-art technology. These additional testing areas feature improved, energy efficient lighting, as well as space designed to ensure patient privacy. In addition, there will be a dedicated clinical research section so that The Eye Institute of Utah can continue to offer patients new technology and drug therapies that are coming to market. The remodel also aims to improve patient wait times and create a more functional flow to the clinic’s check-in and check-out process. Phase two of the project will include expansion of patient restrooms, relocation of the front desk and completion of updated patient waiting areas.
With the recent addition of two ophthalmologists within the past year, Dr. Charles H. Weber and Dr. Gregory A. Christiansen, the number of new patients has increased. Dr. Robert J. Cionni, Medical Director of The Eye Institute of Utah, said “The logical solution was to remodel and continue planning for future growth. The Eye Institute of Utah was originally built in 1980, and after being in practice for more than 30 years, several changes to the original building design were necessary to continue offering the best quality of patient care.” These changes enable the practice to continue offering improvements in technology and treatments for patients. In addition to adding two new doctors, the busy ophthalmology practice has expanded its administrative and clinical teams to keep up with patient demand. To accommodate for this growth, unused office space was also recently converted into administrative office spaces in order to make room for additional patient exams and testing areas in the clinic.
Originally established, designed and built by Dr. W. Andrew Lyle, The Eye Institute of Utah is proud to continue to raise the bar when it comes to enhancing and enriching their patients’ experience when they receive eye care. Both the clinical and surgical center will remain open during the construction period. Administrative and construction crews have been working hard to minimize any disturbances to patients, examinations, and wait times during the remodel. After this phase of renovation, the surgical center will commence a full scale remodel that will further enhance the surgical experience for both family members and patients.
